英文寓言故事经典 篇一

The Tortoise and the Hare

Once upon a time, there was a hare who was very proud of his speed. He would often boast about how fast he could run and how he was the fastest animal in the forest. One day, he came across a tortoise who was plodding along slowly.

The hare laughed at the tortoise and said, "You are so slow! I could beat you in a race without even breaking a sweat." The tortoise, however, was not one to back down from a challenge. He accepted the hare's challenge to a race.

The next day, the race began. The hare sprinted ahead, leaving the tortoise far behind. He was so confident in his speed that he decided to take a nap under a tree halfway through the race. Meanwhile, the tortoise continued to plod along steadily, never stopping or giving up.

When the hare finally woke up from his nap, he saw the tortoise nearing the finish line. He quickly started running again, but it was too late. The tortoise crossed the finish line first, winning the race.

The moral of the story is that slow and steady wins the race. It doesn't matter how fast you are if you are not consistent and persistent in your efforts. The tortoise's determination and perseverance ultimately paid off, while the hare's arrogance and overconfidence led to his downfall.

英文寓言故事经典 篇二

The Lion and the Mouse

In the heart of the jungle, a mighty lion ruled over all the animals. One day, he was caught in a hunter's trap and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't break free. He roared for help, but no one came to his aid.

Just when he thought all hope was lost, a tiny mouse heard his cries. The mouse scurried over to the lion and saw that he was trapped. Without hesitation, the mouse began to gnaw at the ropes of the trap, using all his strength to set the lion free.

Finally, the lion was able to break free from the trap. He turned to the mouse and said, "Thank you, little friend. You have saved my life." The mouse replied, "It was nothing, dear lion. I may be small, but even the smallest creatures can make a big difference."

The lion was so grateful to the mouse that he promised to never harm him or any other mouse in the jungle. From that day on, they became the best of friends, proving that kindness and compassion can bridge even the biggest of differences.

The moral of the story is that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. We should always be ready to help others in need, regardless of their size or stature. Just like the lion and the mouse, we can all make a difference in the world by showing compassion and empathy towards others.

英文寓言故事经典 篇三

The parrot was delighted at this and flapped from room to room, shrieking and screaming with happiness. At last he settled on the edge of a rich curtain.

"Who on earth are you ?" said a cross voice from below. "Stop that terrible noise at once."

The parrot saw a cat staring up at him from the carpet.

"I m a parrot. I ve just arrived and I m to make as much noise as I can," he said.

"Well, I ve lived here all my life," replied the cat ."I was born in this very house and I learned from my mother that it is best to keep quiet here."
