经典英语寓言故事 篇一
The Tortoise and the Hare
Once upon a time, there was a speedy hare who bragged about how fast he could run. Tired of hearing him boast, a slow tortoise challenged him to a race. The hare laughed at the tortoise's challenge, confident that he would win easily.
The race began, and the hare sprinted ahead, leaving the tortoise far behind. Feeling overconfident, the hare decided to take a nap under a tree, thinking he could easily catch up and still win the race.
Meanwhile, the tortoise plodded along steadily, never giving up. When the hare woke up from his nap, he was shocked to see the tortoise near the finish line. With all his might, the hare sprinted towards the finish line, but it was too late. The slow and steady tortoise had won the race.
The moral of this fable is that slow and steady wins the race. It teaches us the importance of perseverance and determination, and that overconfidence can lead to failure.
经典英语寓言故事 篇二
The Lion and the Mouse
In a dense forest, a mighty lion lay asleep under a tree. A small mouse, not seeing the lion, ran across the lion's body, waking him up. Enraged, the lion grabbed the mouse in his paw, ready to devour it.
The mouse, trembling with fear, begged the lion to spare his life. He promised that if the lion let him go, he would help him in the future. The lion, amused by the idea that such a tiny creature could help him, let the mouse go.
Some time later, the lion found himself trapped in a hunter's net. Roaring for help, he struggled to break free. Hearing the lion's cries, the mouse hurried to the scene. Using his sharp teeth, the mouse gnawed through the ropes of the net, setting the lion free.
The lion was grateful to the mouse for saving him, realizing that even the smallest creatures can be of help. The moral of this fable is that kindness is never wasted, and we should always treat others with compassion and respect, regardless of their size or stature.
