The Little Match Girl
Once upon a time in a small village in China, there was a poor little girl who sold matches to make a living. Her name was Mei. She was so poor that she had to sell matches on the street to help her family survive.
One cold winter night, Mei was trying to sell her last few matches, but no one wanted to buy them. She was freezing and hungry, with no place to go. She decided to light a match to warm herself up. As she struck the match, she saw a beautiful vision of a warm fire and a table full of delicious food.
But as soon as the match went out, the vision disappeared. Mei struck another match, and this time she saw her beloved grandmother, who had passed away, smiling at her. She was filled with warmth and happiness. But again, the match went out, and the vision faded away.
Mei decided to light all the matches to keep the visions alive. She saw her grandmother, a warm fire, a feast of food, and even angels coming down from the sky. But each time the match went out, the visions disappeared.
In the morning, the villagers found Mei frozen to death, with a smile on her face. They realized that she had passed away in peace, surrounded by the visions of love and warmth that the matches had brought her.
From that day on, the villagers remembered Mei as the little match girl who had brought light and warmth to their lives, even in the darkest of times.
And so, the story of the little match girl became a legend in the village, reminding everyone of the power of love and hope, even in the coldest of nights.
