篇一:The Importance of Environmental Protection
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen,
Today, I would like to talk about the importance of environmental protection. As we all know, our environment is facing numerous challenges, such as air pollution, water pollution, deforestation, and climate change. These issues not only threaten the health and well-being of humans but also endanger the survival of many species on Earth.
Firstly, environmental protection is essential for human health. Air pollution, caused by the emission of harmful gases from vehicles and factories, can lead to respiratory diseases such as asthma and lung cancer. Water pollution, caused by industrial waste and untreated sewage, can contaminate our drinking water and lead to various waterborne diseases. By protecting the environment, we can ensure clean air and water, which are fundamental for our health and well-being.
Secondly, environmental protection is crucial for biodiversity conservation. Deforestation, for example, destroys the natural habitats of countless species, leading to a loss of biodiversity. Many animals and plants are on the verge of extinction due to human activities like hunting, illegal wildlife trade, and habitat destruction. By preserving the environment and its ecosystems, we can protect the diversity of life on Earth and maintain the delicate balance of nature.
Lastly, environmental protection is vital for mitigating climate change. The burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and gas, releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, leading to global warming. This, in turn, causes extreme weather events like hurricanes, droughts, and heatwaves. By transitioning to renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, and by reducing our carbon footprint, we can slow down the pace of climate change and create a sustainable future for generations to come.
In conclusion, environmental protection is of utmost importance for human health, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. We must all take responsibility for our actions and make conscious efforts to reduce pollution, conserve resources, and protect our environment. Remember, it is not only our duty but also our privilege to live in harmony with nature.
Thank you.
篇二:Individual Actions for Environmental Protection
Good afternoon, dear audience,
Today, I would like to talk about the role of individual actions in environmental protection. While it is true that governments and organizations play a crucial role in addressing environmental issues, individual actions also have a significant impact on the overall well-being of our planet.
Firstly, one of the most effective ways individuals can contribute to environmental protection is by practicing sustainable consumption. This means making conscious choices about the products we buy, considering their environmental impact. By opting for eco-friendly products, such as those made from recycled materials or those that are energy-efficient, we can reduce waste and pollution. Additionally, reducing our consumption of single-use items like plastic bags and bottles can significantly reduce the amount of waste in landfills and oceans.
Secondly, individuals can make a difference by adopting environmentally-friendly habits in their daily lives. For example, conserving energy by turning off lights and electronics when not in use, using public transportation or carpooling to reduce carbon emissions, and conserving water by fixing leaks and taking shorter showers. These small actions, when multiplied by millions of individuals, can have a tremendous impact on reducing our carbon footprint and conserving our natural resources.
Furthermore, individuals can contribute to environmental protection by participating in community initiatives and advocacy. Joining local cleanup campaigns, planting trees, and supporting environmental organizations are just a few ways to make a difference. By coming together as a community, we can raise awareness about environmental issues and work towards sustainable solutions.
In conclusion, individual actions are crucial for environmental protection. Each and every one of us has the power to make a positive impact on our planet through sustainable consumption, adopting environmentally-friendly habits, and participating in community initiatives. Remember, even the smallest actions can create a ripple effect and inspire others to join the cause. Let us all take responsibility for our actions and work together towards a greener and more sustainable future.
Thank you.

篇一:Protecting Our Planet: Everyone's Responsibility
Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, I stand before you to discuss a topic that is of utmost importance to the future of our planet - environmental protection. It is no secret that our planet is facing numerous challenges and threats due to human activities. Climate change, deforestation, pollution, and the extinction of species are just a few examples of the pressing issues we need to address. Therefore, it is crucial that we all take responsibility for protecting our planet, as it is the only home we have.
First and foremost, we must acknowledge the impact of our actions on the environment. Every day, we make choices that can either harm or benefit the planet. From the products we consume to the way we dispose of waste, each decision has consequences. By being mindful of our ecological footprint, we can make a positive difference. For instance, opting for reusable bags, recycling, conserving water and energy, and reducing our consumption of single-use plastics are simple yet impactful ways to contribute to environmental protection.
Furthermore, education plays a vital role in promoting environmental consciousness. By educating ourselves and others about the importance of sustainability and the consequences of our actions, we can inspire change. Schools, communities, and governments should prioritize environmental education to create a generation that is aware and committed to protecting our planet. Only through knowledge and understanding can we empower individuals to make informed decisions and take action.
In addition to individual actions, it is crucial that we hold corporations and governments accountable for their environmental impact. Industries must adopt sustainable practices, reduce emissions, and invest in clean energy alternatives. Governments should implement stricter regulations and provide incentives for eco-friendly initiatives. By working together, we can ensure that businesses and governments prioritize the health of our planet over profits and short-term gains.
Lastly, we must recognize the interconnectedness of all living beings on Earth. Environmental protection is not just about preserving nature for its own sake; it is also about safeguarding our own future. The destruction of ecosystems, the loss of biodiversity, and the depletion of natural resources directly affect our well-being. By protecting the environment, we are ultimately protecting ourselves and future generations.
In conclusion, environmental protection is a responsibility that falls on all of us. We must make conscious choices, educate ourselves and others, hold corporations and governments accountable, and recognize the interconnectedness of all living beings. Let us not forget that our planet is a treasure worth protecting, and it is up to each and every one of us to ensure its preservation. Together, we can create a sustainable and prosperous future for all. Thank you.
篇二:Sustainable Living: A Path Towards a Greener Future
Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, I stand before you to discuss an urgent issue that needs our immediate attention - sustainable living. As we face the consequences of climate change and environmental degradation, it is evident that our current way of life is not sustainable. We must adopt a greener approach to our daily lives if we want to ensure a healthier and more prosperous future for ourselves and future generations.
Firstly, we must shift towards renewable sources of energy. Our dependence on fossil fuels for electricity and transportation is one of the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. By embracing clean energy alternatives such as solar, wind, and hydropower, we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Governments and individuals should invest in renewable energy infrastructure and promote the use of electric vehicles to accelerate this transition.
Secondly, we need to prioritize sustainable transportation. The excessive use of personal cars and the reliance on air travel contribute to air pollution and carbon emissions. Encouraging public transportation, carpooling, cycling, and walking can help reduce traffic congestion and emissions. Additionally, the development of efficient and affordable public transportation systems is essential in creating sustainable cities and reducing the environmental impact of transportation.
Furthermore, sustainable agriculture is vital for a greener future. The current industrial agricultural practices, including the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, contribute to soil degradation, water pollution, and biodiversity loss. By promoting organic farming methods, supporting local and small-scale farmers, and reducing food waste, we can ensure a sustainable and healthy food system. Moreover, individuals can contribute by adopting a plant-based diet or reducing their meat consumption, as the meat industry is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition to these actions, waste management is another crucial aspect of sustainable living. The excessive production of single-use plastics and the improper disposal of waste pose significant threats to our environment. By embracing the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle, we can minimize waste and preserve valuable resources. Governments should enforce stricter regulations on plastic production and encourage the development of a circular economy, where waste is minimized and materials are reused or recycled.
Lastly, education and awareness are key in promoting sustainable living. By educating ourselves and others about the importance of sustainability and the benefits of green practices, we can inspire change. Schools, communities, and organizations should prioritize environmental education and provide resources and tools to help individuals make informed decisions and take action.

We live in the world every day. We eat food, drink water, wear clothes, watch TV, use computers and so on. We are producing waste every moment.
Generally speaking, there are four sorts of waste. They are material waste, organic waste, inorganic waste and poisonous & harmful waste. Now, we are going to talk about each sort of waste one by one.
Material waste: it means the waste of substance or things from which something else can be made. For example, people throw away the used metal products and buy a new one, so the old metal waste accumulates. At last, they become waste. For example, when people finish reading newspaper, the paper will become waste. When the glass is broken, it also becomes waste. Nobody wants to use a broken window or drink with a broken glass or wear a pair of broken glasses. Once it is broken, it becomes waste. The rate of using plastics is increasing day by day. People use plastic bags because they are convenient. When they get home, they throw the plastics way, paying no attention to the environment.
The more convenience plastics brings to us, the more plastic waste is produced. This is called “white pollution” as most plastics are white. Some of our products we use every day are made of rubber, just like the tyres and the bottom part of our shoes. It’s true that rubber plays an important role in our life. However, it also brings us some trouble when it has been used for a long time and becomes old. The old tyres become waste because it can’t break down by nature. This is really a big problem.

Dean Millar founded the world’s first ever BSc course in Renewable Energy at Exeter University after working as an industry consultant.
He said: “A lot of companies were complaining that there was a lack of bright young people suitably trained to work in the renewables business.”
Now his course has around 90 students learning the ins and outs of biomass, tidal, solar and offshore wind power.
Their career prospects are incredibly bright. Employment opportunities are not just limited to the energy sector, but segue into the regulatory and, increasingly, investment sectors as well.
“The big boys are moving in. The returns to be had are significant, especially in terms of wind development,” said Millar. “Financial firms need expertise across the board so they can make sensible investment decisions.”
Students on York University’s Master’s course in Green Chemistry are ideally placed to take advantage of the growin
g demand in industry for graduates with waste minimization skills.Professor James Clark is founder of York’s Green Chemistry Centre for Excellence and the world’s leading green chemistry journal, Green Chemistry. He said: “We are now talking to producers of automobiles, electronics, furniture and pharmaceuticals, people who need to use chemistry but don’t think of themselves as chemists.”
As waste production legislation becomes increasingly strict, the traditional emphasis on making as much of a chemical as possible is shifting towards minimizing the waste that process creates. “A lot of chemicals are made from petroleum, but we are developing sustainable ways to make carbon, typically from biomass such as dead plants and trees,” said professor Clark.
All of last year’s graduates quickly found employment, some receiving multiple job offers in a variety of different fields.
Li Li, a 26-year-old Chinese postgraduate student, graduated from York in 2006. She said:
“I hadn’t heard about green chemistry in China. It was a new area and I was curious. Now the government back home needs people who know about these principles.”
Deep in the heart of Wales, 400 students at the Centre for Alternative Technology’s (CAT) Graduate School of the Environment are busy designing and building everything from high insulation wood housing to wind power turbines. With energy costs rising, building firms are increasingly looking to minimize the energy wasted heating and lighting homes, a service CAT students are well-equipped to provide.
A new institute is being built to meet the burgeoning demand for places and a distance learning facility will be launched next September so foreign students can complete CAT courses from home.
The expertise being taught on these courses is essential to a continually expanding range of companies and government authorities. Yet there is a larger goal at stake; the students are at the forefront of the battle against climate change. In the words of Dean Millar, “If we’re going to save the planet, we need to start turning these people out in big numbers.”

Through observation, I found that plastic bags on people's harm and pollution is very large. People often use plastic bags: mother to buy food and plastic bags; to shopping malls with plastic bags; in the restaurant to eat rice is also packaged with plastic bags to take home; even I buy stationery also with plastic bags. People do not know what they do to the environment caused by pollution, their own body caused any harm. Such as: people often put useless plastic bags thrown into the garbage, plastic bags in the rubbish will be smelly, so that the pollution of the air. People also throw plastic bags anywhere, a wind, plastic bags flying in the sky, the branches also see the tree is a plastic bag, and even the river there are plastic bags. This plastic bag in addition to pollution of the air, but also polluted our water resources.
We should raise people's awareness, tell us the neighbors and friends and family together to beautify our environment. On the road to see the plastic bag quickly picked up, immediately took it to the garbage disposal. We want to start from my use less plastic bags, so that my mother every day to buy food or shopping when they first take their own bags, this is not very environmentally friendly? Or can use their own holding things as far as possible by hand, no plastic bags.
As the saying goes: xxxto protect the environment, everyone is responsiblexxx We have to protect the home environment out of a force.

There are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years. One of the most serious problems is the serious pollution of air, water and soil. the polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. What is more, vegetation had been greatly reduced with the rapid growth of modern cities.
To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a lot. Legislative steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore, governments are playing the most important role in the environmental protection today.
In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even more concrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance of environmental protection through education. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the population planning policy into practice, because more people means more people means more pollution. Finally, those who destroy the environment intentionally should be severely punished. We should let them know that destroying environment means destroying mankind themselves.
