英语寓言小故事 篇一

Title: The Clever Tortoise

Once upon a time, in a forest far, far away, there lived a tortoise named Tim. Tim was known for his cleverness and quick thinking, which often helped him in difficult situations. One day, as Tim was walking through the forest, he heard a group of animals talking about a race that was going to take place.

The race was going to be a competition between all the animals in the forest, and the prize was a shiny trophy. Tim was excited about the race and decided to participate. However, Tim knew that he was not the fastest animal in the forest, so he had to come up with a plan.

On the day of the race, all the animals lined up at the starting line. The signal was given, and the race began. The animals sprinted ahead, leaving Tim far behind. But Tim was not worried. He had a plan.

As the other animals reached a river, they realized that they couldn't cross it without getting wet. Tim, who had been lagging behind, arrived at the river and saw the dilemma. He quickly went to work, gathering sticks and leaves to build a raft. With his cleverness and quick thinking, Tim was able to cross the river without getting wet.

As Tim reached the finish line, the other animals were surprised to see him. They all congratulated Tim on his cleverness and quick thinking. Tim was awarded the shiny trophy and was declared the winner of the race.

From that day on, Tim was known as the cleverest animal in the forest. He had shown everyone that being quick and agile was not the only way to win a race. Sometimes, it was better to be clever and think outside the box.

And so, Tim the tortoise lived happily ever after, using his cleverness to overcome any obstacle that came his way.

Title: The Greedy Cat

In a small village, there lived a cat named Whiskers. Whiskers was known for his love of food and his greediness. He would often steal food from the villagers and eat until he was too full to move. One day, as Whiskers was walking through the village, he saw a group of mice carrying a large piece of cheese.

Whiskers's eyes lit up at the sight of the cheese. He immediately came up with a plan to steal the cheese from the mice. As the mice passed by a narrow alley, Whiskers sprang into action. He pounced on the mice, snatching the cheese from their grasp.

The mice were shocked and scared, but they knew they had to do something to get their cheese back. They quickly came up with a plan of their own. The mice told Whiskers that they would give him an even bigger piece of cheese if he followed them to a nearby field.

Whiskers, who was blinded by his greed, eagerly followed the mice to the field. As they reached the field, the mice led Whiskers to a large hole in the ground. The mice told Whiskers that the cheese was hidden at the bottom of the hole. Without thinking, Whiskers jumped into the hole, eager to get his paws on the cheese.

But as soon as Whiskers reached the bottom of the hole, he realized that he had been tricked. The mice had played a prank on him, and there was no cheese to be found. Whiskers was stuck at the bottom of the hole, unable to climb out.

The mice, who had been watching from above, laughed at Whiskers and told him that greediness always leads to downfall. Whiskers realized his mistake and promised the mice that he would never steal from them again.

And so, Whiskers learned a valuable lesson that day. He understood that greediness would only lead to trouble and that it was better to be content with what he had. Whiskers lived the rest of his days in the village, sharing his food with others and never stealing again.

You were in the right because you were not so lazy as he was and you did not want to let the moonlit night go by without making some use of it.”

  他又转向那位病人说:“但是,你未征得船主的许可便动用了他的船,在这点上你是不对的。你也有对的一面,因为你不像他那样懒惰,你不想让这月夜白白溜走而不去利用它。”

After I leave the zoo, he follows me to my house. I give him lettuce, cabbages, bananas, apples and other food. He eats them up. When I sing songs, he stays in the pool. He is as quite as a rabbit.

  Making His Mark

A man from the state of Chu was taking a boat across a river when he dropped his sword into the water carelessly. Immediately he made a mark on the side of the boat where the sword dropped, hoping to find it later.

When the boat stopped moving, he went into the water to search for his sword at the place where he had marked the boat. As we know, the boat had moved but the sword had not. Isnt this a very foolish way to look for a sword?

Draw a Snake and Add Feet to It

Long long ago, several people had a jar of wine among them and all of them wanted to drink it by himself. So they set a rule that every one would draw a snake on the ground and the man who finished first would have the wine. One man finished his snake very soon and he was about to drink the wine when he saw the others were still busy drawing, so he decided to draw the feet to the snake.

However, before he could finish the feet, another man finished and grabbed the jar from him, saying, "Who has ever seen a snake with feet?" The story of "Draw a snake and add feet to It." tells us going too far is as bad as not going far enough.
